WebP to PNG Converter

WebP offers excellent compression but limited compatibility outside modern web browsers, while PNG is universally supported and provides lossless quality with full alpha-channel transparency. Converting WebP to PNG is the right choice when you need guaranteed compatibility, plan to further edit the image, or want to preserve transparency without any quality loss. SublimePDF decodes both lossy and lossless WebP variants and outputs a pixel-perfect PNG that works in every image editor, operating system, and application.

How to Convert WebP to PNG Online

1

Upload your WebP file

Drag and drop your .webp image. Lossy WebP, lossless WebP, and WebP with alpha transparency are all fully supported. Batch upload multiple files for bulk conversion.

2

Configure PNG output options

Choose between 24-bit RGB (no transparency) or 32-bit RGBA (preserves WebP transparency). Adjust the PNG compression level — higher compression means smaller files with no quality loss since PNG is always lossless.

3

Download your PNG image

The converted PNG preserves every pixel from the WebP source. Transparency is maintained with full alpha-channel support, and the file is compatible with all image editors and platforms.

WebP to PNG Conversion FAQ

Will converting WebP to PNG lose any quality?
No. PNG is a lossless format, so it preserves every pixel exactly as decoded from the WebP file. If the source WebP was lossy, the existing compression artifacts are preserved but no new degradation is introduced.
Why is the PNG file so much larger than the WebP?
WebP's compression is significantly more efficient than PNG's. A lossless WebP file can be 26% smaller than an equivalent PNG. The PNG file is larger but universally compatible and editable in all image software.
Is transparency preserved in the conversion?
Yes. WebP's alpha channel is mapped directly to PNG's alpha channel with full fidelity, including partial (semi-transparent) pixels.
Can I convert animated WebP to animated PNG (APNG)?
Currently, animated WebP is converted by extracting individual frames as separate PNG files. Native APNG output is not yet supported.
What's the maximum WebP file size I can convert?
The converter runs in your browser, so the limit depends on your device's available memory. Most devices handle WebP images up to 50–100 megapixels without issues.
