TIFF to PNG Converter

Converting TIFF to PNG transforms a professional-grade image format into a web-friendly, losslessly compressed file that any browser and image viewer can display. TIFF excels in print production and scientific imaging with features like 16-bit color depth, CMYK color spaces, and multi-layer composition — but these capabilities come with large file sizes and limited web compatibility. PNG preserves sharp details, supports transparency, and compresses efficiently while maintaining pixel-perfect quality. This conversion is ideal when you need the lossless quality of TIFF in a format that works everywhere — web pages, presentations, documents, and apps.

How to Convert TIFF to PNG Online

1

Upload your TIFF file

Drag and drop your .tiff or .tif file. SublimePDF supports single-page and multi-page TIFF, CMYK and RGB color spaces, 8-bit and 16-bit channels, and all standard TIFF compression methods.

2

Configure PNG output

Choose color mode (RGB, RGBA with transparency, grayscale), bit depth (8-bit or 16-bit PNG for high dynamic range), and compression level. For multi-page TIFF, select pages to convert.

3

Download your PNG files

Each TIFF page exports as a PNG file. The output is losslessly compressed — visually identical to the TIFF but in a universally supported format.

TIFF to PNG Conversion FAQ

Is TIFF-to-PNG conversion truly lossless?
Yes. PNG uses Deflate compression which is lossless. An 8-bit RGB TIFF converted to 8-bit RGB PNG is pixel-identical. For 16-bit TIFF, choose 16-bit PNG output to preserve the full tonal range.
How does CMYK-to-RGB conversion work?
The converter uses embedded ICC profiles (or a default mapping) to convert CMYK values to sRGB. This is necessary because PNG only supports RGB and grayscale color spaces.
Should I choose PNG or JPG for my TIFF conversion?
Choose PNG when you need lossless quality, transparency support, or are working with text/line art/diagrams. Choose JPG when file size is the priority and slight lossy compression is acceptable (photos, natural imagery).
Can I preserve 16-bit color depth?
Yes. Select 16-bit PNG output to maintain the full tonal range from 16-bit TIFF sources. Note that most web browsers display 16-bit PNG identically to 8-bit — the extra precision matters for further editing.
What about multi-page TIFF files?
Each page in the TIFF is converted to a separate PNG file. You can select specific pages or convert all pages at once. Multi-page output is delivered as individually numbered files or a ZIP archive.
